The Rise of RC Lowriders:
RC Lowriders have been capturing the imagination of enthusiasts for years for quite some time now, however, it's been in the last few years that we've seen a surge in their presence at Lowrider car shows. This growing interest can be attributed to the efforts of passionate individuals who are dedicated to promoting and curating RC Lowrider events.
Armando Flores, known for his contributions to the MiniatureLowrider community, has been instrumental in elevating the status of RC Lowriders. Through his renowned Whittier Blvd cruise, he has not only celebrated full-scale Lowriders but also showcased the creativity and craftsmanship behind RC versions. This inclusion has sparked a newfound appreciation for RC Lowriders among enthusiasts and has paved the way for their integration into mainstream Lowrider events.
Even more recently, Armando has debuted his replica of the famous 6th street bridge which leads into downtown LA, a few prominent members of the RC lowrider community, such as Manny Martinez of Tropical Glitz have had the pleasure of signing it to commemorate its unveiling. Since 1932, this iconic bridge has been featured in numerous films, tv shows and video games due to its memorable arches and large viaduct that runs beneath it.
The inclusion of RC Lowriders at Lowrider car shows injected a new level of excitement almost immediately. This unique aspect captivated audiences of all ages and has broadened the appeal of Lowrider car shows beyond traditional enthusiasts.
Furthermore, the integration of RC Lowrider cruises has fostered a sense of unity and camaraderie within the Lowrider community. Enthusiasts from all walks of life come together to celebrate their shared passion for Lowriding, regardless of the scale at which they participate. This inclusivity has strengthened the bond among enthusiasts and has reinforced the vibrant spirit of the Lowrider culture.
Promoters like ATL (All Things Lowrider) have played a crucial role in championing RC Lowriders, and the element of gathering, and competing within the hobby has also brought us shows hosted by a few of the amazing RC lowrider car clubs like Bloc Boiz and Delegation RC’s, some of the largest crews in the game to-date.
By recognizing the growing interest, these groups have actively sought to push the RC lowrider culture forward by bringing people together over their shared love of the craft.
This proactive approach has not only diversified the offerings at Lowrider car shows but has also fostered a sense of community among RC Lowrider enthusiasts.
Looking Ahead
-From curated cruises to dedicated showcases, RC Lowriders are poised to become an integral part of the Lowrider experience with its ever-growing popularity. The future looks promising as more promoters include the RC community in their shows, enriching the culture for generations to come.
