Top 5: Upgrades under $100 Pt.1

We know the RC Low riding hobby is expensive, and often time-consuming (all consuming to some *cough, cough, us*). One of the most frustrating things you can do is purchase a number of upgrades to find out that they either aren’t made for your model, or they just don’t look as good as you thought they would.

Before you go blowing a bag on expensive upgrades, check out our first list of top 5 (in no particular order) favorite upgrades available now for under $100 bucks. (hint - One of them is definitely us.)

Number 5

Aluminum C-Hubs - Low Low Boys

All biases aside, we truly do believe our C-hubs are the best on the market. Manufactured here in America, these bad boys are cut with precision, and more importantly, they protect your ride when you hop, and the tuck they provide is true to scale. You’ll find that the wheels neither look like they’re standing up on their tippy-toes when locked up, nor do they extend past the wheel well when slammed low, and that’s just how we like it. Available at the price point of $24.99 for brushed aluminum, or $49.99 for polished, your future hubs can be found using the button below.

Number 4

Gold Dayton 13" Radial Reverse Lace Wheels - Redcat Racing

Officially licensed 13” Dayton Rims are a Low rider enthusiast’s dream. Complete with white wall tires, this set is available with four different styles of knock offs to match your preference. Coming in at $63.99, you’ll want to catch ‘em when they’re in stock, because these sell out fast.

Number 3

True Hop SUPER PUMP servo - Jevries

The man, the myth, the legend, Jevries is coming in real hot with this True Hop Super Pump servo. This servo is designed to give your car some extra hopping power using a 10A BEC set at max. 8.4V. And it kicks. As per the product description on his site, it’s not recommended that you use these servos on the rear of your RC Lowrider when there's a lot of weight in the trunk, and our good friends over at Northside RC customs have an excellent video breaking down the differences between this servo and the Reefs 300 servo which can be found here. Although they aren’t $100.00 or less as per the title of this article, (Available for $119.99) they’re certainly worth the extra $20 bucks.

Number 2

F/R Adjustable CNC Aluminum Shock Absorbers - Redcat Racing

Another important upgrade to hit your Low rider with, the Redcat Hopping shocks. They come in three different degrees of stiffness (Blue for hard, Chrome for medium, and White for soft). If you're considering the Jevries Super Pump servo, you’ll definitely want to consider the Stiff shocks for your ride to make sure you don’t bottom out when hopping. Available for $31.99.

Number 1

Chrome Frame Rails - Redcat Racing

The cheapest upgrade on the list, the chromed out frame is a solid “first five” purchase to add to your ride. Coming in at only $15.99, this is a quick and easy swap to your ‘64 Impala that you won’t want to miss out on.
